PRESS RELEASE
PR-044-2022
(4 August 2022, Singapore) As part of its mandate to ensure the protection and promotion of the welfare of Filipino workers in Singapore, the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) – Singapore, led by Labor Attaché, Atty. Margarita Victorino, conducted a job site visit of Goodwood Park Hotel on 28 July 2022, in relation to the hotel’s application for direct hiring of two (2) Filipino workers.
Labor Attaché Victorino, joined by Assistant Labor Attaché, Atty. Eduard Ferrer, met with Goodwood Park Hotel officers, namely, Ms. Celestine Kho (Director for Human Resource) and Ms. Ethel Gardon (Director for Sales), who is a Filipino, to discuss the hotel’s intent to offer employment for Filipino workers.
Located along Scotts Road in Central Singapore, Goodwood Park Hotel is one of Singapore’s distinguished heritage hotels and certified as a SG Clean establishment. Housed in a uniquely-designed building dating back to the 1900s, much of the hotel’s structure has been faithfully restored, with the Grand Tower gazetted as a national monument in 1989.
The five-star hotel features 233 guest rooms and suites complete with contemporary amenities, two outdoor swimming pools, a fitness center, beauty and spa services, five renowned restaurants, including a 2019 Michelin Star Fine Dining Restaurant, a bar, a deli and a fine range of banqueting and meeting venues to cater to every need and occasion.
It is also the recipient of several awards and accolades, including the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) Green Mark Gold Award, TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence, Forbes Travel Guide Recommended Award, and Hotel Security Excellence Award.
Goodwood Park Hotel presently employs seven (7) Filipinos and is looking to complete the hiring of more Filipino workers in the coming months through Agency Hiring. During the site visit, Filipino hotel workers shared with the POLO officers that their employer managed to continue with their employment even during the closure of the business at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Notably, no Filipino worker was laid off and there was no diminution in their wages and other benefits during the pandemic. (END).
