25 November 2019, Singapore. The Philippine Embassy in Singapore together with the lawyers from the International Pro Bono Alliance, Inc.(iPBA) conducted free lecture and legal aid clinic at the Philippine Embassy on 24 November 2019 (Sunday) from 1:30 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Volunteer members of the International Pro Bono Alliance, Inc. headed by iPBA President Atty. Purification Bartolome-Bernabe flew in from Manila to provide free legal assistance to our kababayans in Singapore.
She was joined by Atty. Robert Cruz, Atty. Eduardo Cezar Gaanan, Jr., Atty. Maribeth Sanchez, and Ms. Geralyn Inso. Mr. Douglas MacLean and Ms. Stephanie Teh from Justice Without Borders also lent their free legal expertise during the event.
During the lecture, Atty. Bartolome-Bernabe discussed about Philippine family laws, focusing on adoption, annulment of marriage, recognition of divorce, among other issues. Atty. Cruz, gave a presentation on property laws, specifically on property acquisition.
Mr. MacLean and Ms. Teh discussed about cross border claims.
A total of 47 Filipino residents in Singapore attended the event last Sunday despite heavy rains. Thirty-six pre-registered clients availed themselves of the one-on-one legal consultations with the lawyers of the International Pro Bono Alliance. END
