Philippine Embassy Singapore convenes 5th Filipino community leaders meeting

The fifth Filipino community (Filcom) leaders meeting of the year was convened by the Philippine Embassy in Singapore on Saturday, 17 September 2016, at the public area of the Philippine Chancery along Nassim Road.  Around 110 participants participated in the meeting.  Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Antonio A. Morales expressed his appreciation to the Filcom leaders for their regular presence in the meeting as it is an opportunity to get updates on matters that are of relevance to the Filcom and also to conduct some networking activities.

Embassy officials and those of the attached agencies briefed the participants on important developments in their respective sections.  Defense and Armed Forces Attaché Col Aderito Navata talked on security matters while the Officer-in-Charge of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office Ramon Lamberto Pastrana updated the participants on the mechanics of the granting of OEC exemptions earlier announced by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, which are of particular interest to the community.

Filcom organizations and other entities were also given opportunity to share information on their activities. The next Filcom meeting will be held in November 2016. The meeting was preceded by the “Kapehan sa Embassy” and concluded with a networking lunch. After the meeting, Ambassador Morales administered the oath-taking of the officers of the Association of Filipino Radiographers in Singapore (AFRIS).
