PR-021-2022
(06 April 2022, Singapore) – The Philippine Embassy in Singapore held a watch party consisting of Embassy personnel and their minor children in celebration of the launch of Fiesta Filipinas Season 2 featuring the Pahiyas Festival of Lucban, Quezon, on 02 April 2022 at the Philippine Embassy grounds.
The gradual easing of restrictions in Singapore with more relaxed safe management measures allowed Post to physically hold the event at the Embassy.
In keeping with the Pahiyas Festival’s reputation as one of the country’s most colorful and festive celebrations, the Embassy grounds were decorated with colorful kipings and flowers. The watch party also included an onsite cooking session by one of the Embassy’s local hires and in-house cook, Ms. Lydia Delegente, and an arts and crafts segment with the children. The event was capped with a small salu-salo which featured the highlight of the activity, the pancit habhab.
Pahiyas Festival kits were also distributed to other Filipino Community organization leaders and Singapore Tourism Board (STB) colleagues.
The Fiesta Filipinas series has been a successful endeavor by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), in partnership with the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) since its first season held last year, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. The reception of the series was always anticipated by bisitas and with the addition of the cooking segment, the multisensory experience encourages more bisitas to visit the Philippines as the pandemic situation improves.
