ART TREK 12 CONCLUDES WITH “BAHALA NA”

Art Trek 12 held its closing exhibit at Di Legno Gallery on 19 December 2018.

Consul General Victorio Mario M. Dimagiba, Jr. graced the opening of the exhibition on behalf of Ambassador Joseph del Mar Yap. Consul General Dimagiba, in his remarks, conveyed the Embassy’ appreciation to all those who supported Art Trek 12 and looked forward for next year’s Art Trek 13 which would coincide with the 50th anniversary of PH-SG bilateral relations.

Members of the diplomatic corps including Counselor Licinio Branco of the Embassy of Timor Leste and Ms. Natalia De Roock of the US Embassy also attended the opening of the exhibits.

Nasser Lubay and WIPO were the featured artists in a joint exhibition entitled “Bahala Na”. WIPO’s works focus on emotions and behaviour which portrays fate in a cheerful way, while Nasser portrays art through a flux of imagination that produce a sense of meaning.

The joint exhibition was a reflection of the Filipino’s carefree attitude and optimism. Thus, the name of their exhibition “Bahala Na” which in Filipino means “Whatever will be will be” or “Whatever happens, happens”.

The exhibition will run until 30 November 2018.

Art Trek, which is the centrepiece of the Embassy’s cultural diplomacy program on its 12th year already, featured nine Singapore galleries and twenty-four Filipino artists representing various mediums from visual arts, sculpture to bootleg toys.
