PRESS RELEASE
PR-122-2023
(18 October 2023, Singapore) – The Philippine Embassy in Singapore’s Art Trek 15 continues to support Filipino artists by partnering with Whitestone Gallery and New Art Museum as it features the solo exhibit of leading Filipino contemporary artist Ronald Ventura entitled “An Introspective” during its grand opening on 14 October 2023.
Born in Manila, Philippines, Mr. Ronald Ventura stands as a prominent figure in the Southeast Asian art scene with his unique ability to mix different art styles like super-realism, anime, cartoons, and graffiti into amazing artworks. He uses this blend to show the historical influences of the Philippines in a way that captivates modern art fans in Southeast Asia.
“An Introspective”, curated by fellow FIlipino contemporary artist Ruel Caasi, put a spotlight on Mr. Ventura’s paintings and sculptures, inspired by how he organizes his ideas for his artworks, which continue to change and evolve. According to him, he keeps his different ideas in separate “files,” similar to the ones in a computer. These “files” represent the different parts of his creative mind where he explores and evaluates himself as an artist.
Joining the opening of the Whitestone Gallery Singapore were its Founder Yukio Shiraishi; Whitestone Gallery CEO Mr. Koei Shiraishi; Philippine Ambassador to Singapore H.E. Medardo Macaraig; Japanese Ambassador to Singapore H.E. Hiroshi Ishikawa; Japanese artist Miwa Komatsu, who is also holding a solo exhibition alongside Ronald Ventura; and world-renowned architect Kengo Kuma; ZYCC Interior Planning, Design & Construction Director Mr. Yoshihiko Inamura; and Shunpodo Gallery Representative Mr Akira Yokoi.
Founded in the heart of Tokyo in 1967, Whitestone Gallery has been a pioneer gallery in the Japanese art scene expanding to nine (9) cosmopolitan cities in Asia, including Singapore. Located in Tanjong Pagar Distripark, a multidisciplinary industrial arts cluster hub, the Whitestone Gallery Singapore, which spans over 20,000 sq ft., is the first such gallery in Southeast Asia and biggest in the region.
The exhibition runs until January 2024 at Whitestone Gallery’s space on the fifth floor of the Tanjong Pagar Distripark. (END)
