Philippine Embassy hosts 3rd General Meeting of Filipino Community Leaders in Singapore

The Philippine Embassy and the Philippine Overseas Labour Office in Singapore hosted the third general meeting of leaders of the Filipino community (Filcom) on Saturday, 20 May 2017. More than a hundred officials of Filcom organizations and other entities participated in the meeting, which dealt on a number of agenda items including preparations for activities to mark the 119th anniversary of the proclamation of Philippine independence. Officials of the Philippine Embassy provided the participants with relevant updates on developments in the Philippines as well as improvements in the services of the Embassy. Filcom leaders were requested to encourage their members to register for overseas voting for the 2019 Philippine elections. Filcom organizations were also given an opportunity to announce activities involving the Filcom in Singapore.  During the meeting, Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Antonio A. Morales administered the oath of newly-elected officials of the UP Alumni Association in Singapore (UPAAS). The meeting was preceded by a networking “Kapihan” and concluded with a lunch arranged by the Philippine Overseas Labour Office. The next Filcom leaders meeting will be held in July 2017.
