(3 November  2023, Singapore) – In continuation of this year’s ART Trek 15, the Philippine Embassy in Singapore opened on 27 October 2023 its 6th art exhibition and 4th Embassy-hosted exhibit “Harmony Across Horizons: A Cultural Tapestry of Traditions” featuring the works of  nine (9) Filipino and Singaporean artists.

Harmony Across Horizons, a second curated iteration by Olal’Art, is the Embassy’s joint exhibit by Filipino and Singaporean artists. It featured the works of Rene Robles, Paco Gorospe, Oscar Ocampo, and Khristina Manansala, which were loaned from the vast art collection of art aficionados in Singapore, as well as those by featured artists John Paul Toquero Choa of the Philippines, and Singaporean artists Boo Sze-Yang , Teng Jee-Hum Justin Lee , and Angela Lee.

The exhibit invites the audience to embark on a profound journey through the shared cultural histories of the Philippines and Singapore. It showcases the enduring power of legends to inspire and shape contemporary art, uniting the rich artistic traditions of these nations while celebrating the creativity and talent of both established and talented artists, the emerging visionaries of the present day.

In his remarks during the program, Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Medardo G.  Macaraig said that culture and tradition influence art which, in turn, provides new perspectives from which individuals could appreciate how others see the world.  He  added that art is a powerful vehicle that can transcend boundaries and build connections, thereby forging harmony amidst differences.

Among the guests at the opening of the exhibit were representatives from the Singapore Government, the  diplomatic corps in Singapore, and art enthusiasts. A poetry reading by Mr. Eric Valles, Mr. Aaron Lee, and Ms. Alka Balain were also held during the program, for which a musical accompaniment was provided by the Embassy’s PAG-IBIG Officer Mr. Christian Oliveros.

The “Harmony Across Horizons: A Cultural Tapestry of Traditions” exhibit is open until 07 November 2023 at the Philippine Embassy, except on weekends.  For viewing, reservations can be coursed through Eventbrite. END
