20 July 2016. Philippine Ambassador Antonio A. Morales met with Mrs. Elaine Ng, CEO of the National Library Board (NLB) Singapore. During the meeting, Ambassador Morales conveyed his gratitude to Mrs. Ng for accepting the donation of Philippine books, The Aquino Legacy: An Enduring Narrative by Elfren Sicangco Cruz and Neni Sta. Romana Cruz, Tales from EDSA: Stories of the Revolution by Neni Sta. Romana Cruz, CALIDAD HUMANA: Sharing the Filipino Spirit and the Mama Sita Cookbooks, Flovours of the Philippine Islands and Homestyle Recipes. The books on EDSA were purchased by the Embassy to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of EDSA People Power Revolution, while the cookbooks were donated by Mama Sita Foundation.
Ambassador Morales and CEO Ng both agreed that this meeting will be the start of future cultural collaborations, especially on the screening of Philippine classical films, book reading of Filipino authors and other cultural activities.
After the meeting and book donation, Ambassador Morales was shown a tour of From the Stacks exhibition at the National Library. The exhibit was a display of their selected collection that highlighted different aspects of early Singapore, especially its association with the founder of modern Singapore, Stamford Raffles.
