PASAY 16 April 2024 – Philippine Secretary for Foreign Affairs Enrique A. Manalo held a bilateral meeting on 16 April with visiting Singaporean Foreign Minister Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan. This is the first visit of Minister Dr. Balakrishnan to the Philippines since Secretary Manalo assumed office as the Philippines’ Foreign Affairs Secretary.
The visit follows the successful 6th Informal Consultations on the Philippines-Singapore Action Plan (IC-PSAP), the bilateral mechanism for dialogue between the foreign ministries of both countries, which was last convened in February 2024.
During the meeting, both sides had an open and fruitful discussion on the state of the bilateral relations of the two countries, and the areas for further collaboration. 2024 marks the 55th year after the Philippines and Singapore established their diplomatic relations, and ties have been robust and dynamic ever since, with several high-level visits taking place every year between both sides.
Aside from bilateral relations, both sides also had a productive exchange of views on a number of international and regional developments. END
