The Philippine Embassy, represented by Consul Gonaranao B. Musor and Cultural Officer Sheila B. Bengtlars, participated in the International Friendship Day Celebration in the following Singaporean primary schools: Stamford Primary School on 4 April 2018 and Changkat Primary School on 6 April 2018.

Consul Musor delivered a lecture on the various aspects of Philippine culture to around 900 primary students from the said schools.  The presentation commenced with a brief background on the role of the Philippine Embassy in fostering friendship between the Philippines and Singapore.  Consul Musor also highlighted the upcoming 50th anniversary of the bilateral relations between the two countries next year.

Through the Embassy’s presentation, students were able to get a glimpse of Philippine architecture, festivals, performing arts, cuisine, sports and heritage towns and cities.

The Embassy also promoted Philippine food establishments based in Singapore, such as Jollibee, as well as encouraged the students and teachers to visit the Philippines and experience the country’s rich cultural heritage.

The theme for this year’s International Friendship Day is “ASEAN 50”, with the aim of creating awareness among the Singaporean students on the importance of friendship among ASEAN countries.
