On 6 March 2024, Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Medardo G. Macaraig met with Ms. Veerle Nouwens, the new Executive Director of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) – Asia at the latter’s office.
Ms. Nouwens plays a leading role in organizing the annual IISS Shangri-La Dialogue, Asia Pacific’s premier security and defense forum, as well as the Shangri-La Sherpa Meeting every January.
She also leads the growing IISS research team in Singapore focused on the Asia-Pacific and contributes to IISS publications. The Asia Office was opened in 2004 to allow the IISS to organize the annual Shangri-La Dialogue.
H.E. Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., President of the Republic of the Philippines, will deliver the keynote address at the Opening Dinner of the 21st IISS Shangri-La Dialogue which will run from 31 May to 2 June 2024. (END).
