Progress in ASEAN Economic Community cited at RHT ASEAN Summit

Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Antonio A. Morales served as a member of a panel discussion on ASEAN’s Opportunity in the New World Economic Order during the ASEAN Summit 2017 on The Future Economic in the ASEAN Narrative: Gearing Your Business for the AEC, organized by RHT at the Suntec Convention Centre, Singapore, on 19 September 2017.

Ambassador Morales was joined by Ambassador Ngurah Swajaya of Indonesia; Mr. Antoine Chery, Head of the French Economic and Financial Service for ASEAN, French Embassy; Prof. Dr. Djisman Simadjuntak, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Centre for Strategic and International Studies; and Mr. Richard Wong, VP, Public Sector and Government Practice, Frost and Sullivan. Secretary General Eduardo Pedrosa of the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC) moderated the discussion.

In his presentation, Ambassador Morales made a presentation on the Philippine chairmanship of ASEAN. He welcomed progress made in the AEC and reiterated the commitment of the Philippine government to support the proposed Regional Cooperation and Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement, which is expected to open more opportunities for ASEAN Member States.  He expressed hope that ASEAN will continue to serve its people and continue to serve as a model of regionalism.
