The Philippine Embassy in Singapore together with the National Gallery Singapore organized the Singapore premiere of the award-winning and blockbuster hit Heneral Luna at The Ngee Ann Kongsi Auditorium on 18 February 2018.

The film, which is a fictionalised account of the Philippine-American war from the perspective of General Antonio Luna, was reportedly partly inspired by the artworks of Heneral Luna’s brother, Juan Luna.

The movie screening was organized in conjunction with the exhibition Century of Light: Rare Masterpieces from Monet, Raden Saleh and Juan Luna which will run at the National Gallery until 11 March 2018.

First Secretary and Consul J. Anthony A. Reyes, on behalf of Ambassador Joseph Del Mar Yap, welcomed guests at the National Gallery. After the screening, Director Jerrold Tarog answered questions from the audience. Mr. Tarog also announced that Heneral Luna will form part of a trilogy. The follow up will be about General Gregorio del Pilar to be portrayed by Paulo Avelino and is scheduled to be released in September 2018. The last of the trilogy will be about the late President Manuel Quezon. END
