Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Antonio A. Morales delivered the opening address during the book launching of “International Intellectual Property And The Asean Way: Pathways To Interoperability” on Tuesday, 19 September 2017, at the National University of Singapore (NUS) Bukit Timah Campus.

Ambassador Morales was invited by Associate Professor Elizabeth Ng Siew Kuan,  Deputy Chairperson (IP Research Unit), E.W. Barker Centre for Law and Business, NUS Faculty of Law, who co-edited the work with Professor Graeme Austin of New Zealand.

The book brings together contributions of IP luminaries around the world and puts forward the idea that achieving interoperability in IP using the “Asean way” may be more realistic as a new paradigm for strengthening international relations.

In his address, Ambassador Morales congratulated Associate Professor Ng and Professor Austin noting that through their joint efforts, legal practitioners and policymakers will now have a handy reference that would allow them to compare the merits of IP interoperability as a tool to further advance economic integration in ASEAN.
