(25 February 2023, Singapore) Atty. Maria Anthonette C. Velasco-Allones, Undersecretary for Finance and Internal Management of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), paid a courtesy call on Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Medardo G. Macaraig on 23 February 2023 to personally convey DMW’s appreciation to the Ambassador for the support that the Philippine Embassy continues to extend to the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Singapore and to its officers and personnel.
Undersecretary Allones is in Singapore to participate in the Women and Leadership Workshop organized by the Singapore Management University.
Among the topics that were discussed during the call were the transition of the Embassy’s Assistance to Nationals (ATN) services for Filipinos in-distress to the MWO, the proposed bilateral labor agreement between the Philippines and Singapore on the recruitment of Filipino healthcare workers, and future collaborations between the DMW and the Philippine Embassy which aim to strengthen policies and programs to protect and promote the rights and welfare of OFWs in Singapore.
Joining the DMW Undersecretary during the courtesy call was MWO’s Officer-in-Charge, Assistant Labor Attaché Eduard C. Ferrer. (END).
