26 June 2018 – The Philippine Embassy received on 22 June 2018 a delegation of 30 from the Association of Law Students of the Philippines (ALSP), who were in Singapore for the ASEAN Legal Camp from 22 to 25 June 2018.

Ambassador Joseph Del Mar Yap interacted with the students, while the officers of the Embassy provided a briefing prior to the Ambassador’s arrival. Consul General Victorio Mario M. Dimagiba, Jr. gave his opening remarks, followed by a joint presentation by Consuls Gonaranao B. Musor and J. Anthony A. Reyes on PH-SG bilateral relations and ASEAN.

ALSP aims to contribute to the improvement of legal education in the Philippines by providing venues for academic cooperation and coordination with law students from other countries, as well as instilling a sense of social awareness and public responsibility among its members. The organization is also recognized by the Supreme Court as the student counterpart of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines.

This is the pioneering batch of delegates for the ASEAN Legal Camp, where 17 law schools from Luzon, NCR, Visayas and Mindanao were represented, including UP, Ateneo, San Beda, and UST.

The event also enabled the students to visit Singapore’s Supreme Court, NUS, and private law firm, Sidley Austin LLP, through the assistance of Filipina lawyer, Atty. Gmeleen Tomboc. END
