(3 April 2023, Singapore) Ambassador Medardo G. Macaraig paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Education of Singapore, Mr. Chan Chun Sing, on 3 April 2023 at the Ministry of Education Headquarters.
During the call, Minister Chan and Ambassador Macaraig noted with satisfaction the longstanding partnership between the Philippines and Singapore in various areas, including education, and acknowledged the important role that education plays in the development of both the Philippines and Singapore.
They also looked forward to continuing to work together in the field of education, such as exploring collaborations in joint research projects, faculty exchange programs, scholarships and trainings for students, and partnerships between universities and learning institutions of both countries.
Ambassador Macaraig also congratulated Minister Chan for his successful tenure as President of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) Council from 2021 to 2022, and noted the accomplishments made under his leadership. The SEAMEO Council presidency was recently turned over to Philippine Vice President and Secretary Education Sara Z. Duterte in February 2023.
Ambassador Macaraig also expressed the Philippines’ support for initiatives by Singapore in promoting education and learning, and reiterated the Philippines’ commitment to strengthening its partnership with Singapore in all areas. (END).
