Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Singapore participated in the Post-arrival Orientation Seminar (PAOS) conducted by Philippine Overseas Labour Office (POLO) of the Philippine Embassy in Singapore on Sunday, 1 March 2015. This is the first PAOS for OFWs held in Singapore for 2015.
Participants in the seminar were mostly those who have just arrived in Singapore on their first contract on employment who are enrolled in the skills training program of the Filipino Overseas Workers Singapore (FOWS). Ms. Cristy Vicentina, General Manager of PNB Singapore, was also present.
During the seminar, officials of the Philippine Embassy and POLO headed by Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Consul General Victorio Mario M. Dimagiba Jr. briefed the participants on matters that are relevant to their work and stay in Singapore.
Topics that were covered include, among others, consular services, assistance to nationals (ATN) overseas absentee voting (OAV), POLO services, overseas employment certificate (OEC) particularly the new BM online service for OEC issuance, OWWA services, personal safety and Filipino community activities.
The next PAOS will be held in May 2015 following the new format of conducting it once every two months alternating with the regular Filcom leaders meeting.
