The Philippine Embassy in Singapore would like to remind the Filipino Community to be wary of phone scams targeting Singapore residents. The attention of the Filipino Community is directed toward the following scam which was immediately foiled through the help of money changer personnel:

As advised by the Singapore Police Force, Singapore residents are enjoined to take the following precautionary measures when receiving unsolicited calls:

  • Ignore them as calls that appear to be from a local number may not actually be made from Singapore;
  • Ignore instructions to remit or transfer money as no government agency would ask the public to make a payment through a phone call;
  • Do not give out personal information or bank details;
  • Call a trusted friend or relative before doing anything.

Nais ipagbigay-alam ng Embahada ng Pilipinas sa ating mga kababayan sa Singapore na maging maingat sa mga “phone scams” na nambibiktima ng mga naninirahan sa Singapore. Mangyari lamang pong basahin ang balita na ito na tumalakay sa maagang pagsugpo ng isang phone scam:

Batay sa paalala ng Singapore Police Force, pinaalalahanan ang ating mga kababayan na sundin ang mga sumusunod na babala:

  • Wag sagutin ang mga tawag na nagmumukhang galing sa Singapore pero maaaring tawag mula overseas;
  • Wag pansinin ang mga utos na mag remit ng pera sapagkat ang isang sangay ng pamahalaan sa Singapore ay hindi nagbibigay-utos na magbayad sa pamamagitan ng tawag lamang;
  • Wag magbigay ng personal na impormasyon lalo na ang mga detalye ng inyong mga bank accounts;
  • Kumunsulta sa inyong kamag-anak o kaibigan pag nakatanggap ng ganitong mga tawag.
