PHILIPPINE ARMY OFFICER GRADUATES COMMAND AND STAFF COURSE OFFERED BY SINGAPORE ARMED FORCES

9 November 2023, Singapore – Philippine Army Officer Lt. Col. Jimrhic Obias completed the Command and Staff Course (CSC) at the prestigious Goh Keng Swee Command and Staff College (GKS CSC) of the Singapore Armed Forces Training Institute, Military Institute (SAFTI MI) held from  16 January 2023 to 2 November 2023.

The GKS CSC graduation ceremony, held at the Istana on 2 November 2023 with Singapore Minister for Defense Dr. Ng Eng Hen as the Guest of Honor, marked the completion of the 54th CSC, 24th CSC (National Service), and the 20th and 21st CSC (Executive) respectively. The CSC, CSC (NS) and CSC (Executive) prepare officers for senior command and staff appointments in the Singapore Armed Forces, and are the highest level of formal military education offered in Singapore for Regular, NS as well as international officers.

During the graduation ceremony, Lt. Col. Obias was awarded the Book Prize for his paper in Analysis of Defense and Security Policies entitled “Preventing War in Asia: The Impact of UN, Great Powers, and Regional Institutions on Stability”. In his essay,  he highlighted that the prospect of conflict and war remains a pressing concern in the region, as Asia continues to grapple with evolving geopolitical tensions due to territorial disputes. 

Lt. Col. Obias was among the 232 military officers, including 18 International Officers from 11 countries, who successfully completed the10-month course. (END).
