The Chairman of the Centre for Agriculture and Rural Development Mutually Reinforcing Institutions (CARD-MRI), Dr. Jaime Aristotle Alip paid a courtesy call on Ambassador Antonio A. Morales at the Philippine Embassy in Singapore on Wednesday, 19 July 2017. Ambassador Morales was joined by First Secretary and Consul Mersole J. Mellejor and Labour Attaché Ramon Lamberto Pastrana in receiving Dr. Alip and his spouse. During the call, Dr. Alip briefed Ambassador Morales on CARD-MRI and its activities on poverty alleviation. He also informed the Ambassador about the plan of CARD-MRI to establish presence in Singapore to provide financial literacy training for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in the city-state. Ambassador Morales thanked Dr. Alip for his visit. He welcomed the interest of CARD-MRI to help OFWs through its financial literacy program noting that it complements the efforts of the Philippine Embassy to help provide alternative sources of livelihood for the families of OFWs. In addition to his capacity as chairman of CARD-MRI, Dr. Alip is also involved in the peace talks between the Philippine government and the National Democratic Front.
