PRESS RELEASE
PR-002-2023
8 January 2023, Singapore – Third Secretary and Vice Consul Joy Anne B. Lai and Cultural and Filipino Community Relations Officer Rosellie L. Bantay of the Philippine Embassy in Singapore attended the successful book launch entitled “Language of My Heart”, a poetry collection by Janelyn Dupingay, on 08 January 2023 at the Sing Lit Station.
Janelyn Dupingay hails from Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines, and has been working in Singapore as a migrant domestic worker (MDW) since 2015. She is active in Singapore-based organizations such as Uplifters, a non-profit organization providing online education on money management and personal growth, and Migrant Writers of Singapore, a volunteer-led platform for literary and arts catering to migrant workers. This, in turn, led to her being tapped into different projects involving Filipino writers – from being a featured speaker at the Singapore Writers Festival for “A Labour of Love I: Spotlight in Tagalog”; to being a contributor to Get Luckier Anthology, a collection of writings from Filipino and Singaporean authors; to being an exhibitor at the Do You See Me project of the Tzu Chi Humanistic Youth Centre and IAMinVISIBLE.
The book launch was supported by Migrant Writers of Singapore, Sing Lit Station, IAMinVISIBLE, and Uplifters. Published by Poetry Planet Book Publishing House, a copy of her book can be purchased online at Amazon, Lulu.com, and Bookemon. END.
