Philippine Embassy in Singapore celebrates the traditional ‘Lo Hei’

19 February 2016. Singapore.  The Philippine Embassy in Singapore, led by Ambassador Antonio A. Morales, celebrated the traditional Lo Hei at the Chancery on 18 February 2015 to usher in good health and prosperity during this auspicious year of the monkey.

The Embassy invited a Filipino working in a service industry in Singapore, Mr. Karlson Kim, to explain the meaning of the celebration. The Embassy personnel gathered to toss the ingredients while saying well wishes out loud to bring in good luck, with the belief that the higher they tossed the ingredients, the greater fortunes they will receive.

Eating Yu Sheng during Chinese New Year is a cultural activity for Chinese living in Singapore and Malaysia.

Lo Hei is celebrated  from the 1st to the 15th day of the first lunar month.lohei1 lohei2 lohei4 lohei3
