FOURTH UGNAYAN REACHED A WIDER AUDIENCE AS THE YEAR ENDS

Philippine Embassy and partner agency officials, and members of the Filipino Community joined the 4th Ugnayan on 28 November 2021.

(3 December 2021, Singapore) As part of its continuing efforts to reach out to its constituents amid the prevailing global COVID-19 situation, the Philippine Embassy in Singapore held its fourth and final virtual Ugnayan for this year with the leaders and members of the Filipino Community (FilCom)  in Singapore on Sunday, 28 November 2021.

For 2021, the Ugnayan migrated to a webinar format from its pre-pandemic face-to-face activity to accommodate more interested kababayans to listen to, interact with and ask questions to officials from the Embassy and its attached agencies. The Ugnayan was also streamed live through the Embassy’s official Facebook page

In his Welcome Remarks, Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Joseph del Mar Yap shared that several changes had occurred since the last Ugnayan held in July 2021. Among the accomplishments of the Embassy were the successful overseas voters’ registration of over 27,000 Filipinos for the upcoming National Presidential Elections in 2022, the soft opening of the ePassport Renewal Center (PARC) under VFS Global Pte. Ltd. on 28 October 2021, and the completion of the covered walkway connecting the guardhouse/reception area of the Embassy to the main building where the consular area is located.

Ambassador Yap also reminded the audience to continue being vigilant in the face of the continuing threat of COVID-19 and to strictly abide by the Singapore Government’s health protocols and safety management measures. He also encouraged those who are yet to be inoculated to get the COVID-19 vaccine for their added protection.

During the Ugnayan, the heads of the Embassy’s various sections and attached agencies provided updates, announcements as well as upcoming events that are being organized by the Embassy in the coming weeks. The Ugnayan also provided an opportunity to introduce new personnel who recently joined the Embassy.

The two-hour webinar was streamed live via the Embassy’s official Facebook page and was attended by 20 FilCom leaders on Zoom. It has so far been viewed 4,300 times as of this writing.
