Philippine Embassy leads observance of 120th Rizal Day in Singapore

The Philippine Embassy in Singapore commemorated Rizal Day 2016 with a simple ceremony at the Philippine Chancery. The program started with the playing of the Philippine National Anthem followed by a brief message of Minister and Consul General Victorio Mario M. Dimagiba Jr., in his capacity as Chargé d’Affaires (CDA), ad interim.

Minister and Consul General Dimagiba and the Philippine Defense and Armed Forces Attaché Col Aderito Navata laid a wreath at the newly-installed bronze bust of Dr. Jose Rizal. The bust, provided by the Philippine National Commission on Culture and the Arts, will form part of the Sentro Rizal Singapore, which is slated to be launched at the Embassy in the middle of 2017.

First Secretary and Consul J. Anthony Reyes, who is an active member of the Order of the Knights of Rizal, paid a tribute to the national hero by reading “A La Juventud Filipina”, one of Rizal’s outstanding literary works. Former DTI Undersecretary Atty. Victorio A. Dimagiba Sr., father of CDA Dimagiba, joined the commemorative activity.
