(25 October 2023, Singapore) The Philippines joins ITB Asia 2023, Asia’s leading travel trade show happening in Singapore from 25 to 27 October 2023 at the Marina Bay Sands.
Philippine Ambassador to Singapore H.E. Medardo G. Macaraig attended the ITB Asia 2023 Opening Ceremony and visited the Philippine booth, with 24 participants, led by the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) and comprising travel agencies, tour operators, hotel chains and entertainment centers from the Philippines.
Prominently displaying the new DOT tagline “Love the Philippines”, the Philippine booth showcases different travel destinations in the Philippines which highlight the country’s tourism and cultural heritage, including Cebu, Bohol, South Cotabato, Batanes, Boracay, and Intramuros. The booth is designed with solihiya wood panels and furniture, and displays various Filipino snacks and souvenirs.
Ambassador Macaraig had the opportunity to meet at the ITB Representative Gerville Luistro (2nd District Batangas),Representative Angelica Natasha Co (BHW Partylist), and participating officials from the Philippine Retirement Authority (PRA) and Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA).
An annual event held in Singapore, ITB Asia presents viable opportunities for countries, including the Philippines, to promote itself as a tourist haven and to attract travelers to consider the country as its next destination for travel, for business or pleasure. Attracting key players from the global travel industry, this year’s ITB kicked off with a record-breaking 35% increase in international exhibitors and is expected to translate to an increase in visitors and travelers to participating destination countries.
