PHILIPPINE EMBASSY SUPPORTS LAUNCH OF CENTRE FOR DOMESTIC EMPLOYMENT (CDE) MOBILE OUTREACH TO HOUSEHOLD SERVICE WORKERS

The Philippine Embassy, represented by Consul General Victorio Dimagiba, Jr. Labor Attache Ramon TIonloc attended the launch of the Centre for Domestic Employee’s (CDE) Mobile CDE van. Mr Sam Tan, Minister of State for Manpower, alongside Mr Yeo Guat Kwang, Chairman of CDE officially unveiled the program at the open area of the Paya Lebar MRT Station on 31 July 2016. Mobile CDE will enable domestic employees to get on-the-spot advisory related to employment issues. In addition, employers of foreign domestic employees may also seek advice from the staff on duty. The Philippine Embassy, through the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO), are working closely with CDE in bringing these services ever closer to our Household Service Workers.

The CDE, which is a program of the National Trade Union Congress (NTUC) of Singapore, hopes to have this mobile CDE van make stops every weekend, at various locations in Singapore to provide the appropriate services and assistance to HSWs in need.
