PRESS RELEASE
PR-107-2023
(19 September 2023, Singapore) – The Embassy of the Philippines in Singapore participated in the Singapore leg of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Project Roadshow on 14-15 September 2023, which was conducted by the Department of Transportation (DOTr), Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center and representatives of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
The roadshow was held in cooperation with Infrastructure Asia (InfraAsia), a Singapore institution set up by Enterprise Singapore and the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) to support social growth and economic development in Asia through infrastructure projects. The two-day roadshow was conducted in a hybrid format, with in-person presentations that were live streamed via an invite-only Zoom link. It was attended by over 200 participants which included leaders from the aviation, logistics, and transport industries, as well as financial institutions and investors.
Philippine Embassy Deputy Head of Mission and Consul General Emmanuel R. Fernandez provided the opening remarks during the last day of the roadshow and highlighted the importance of the Build, Better, More Infrastructure Program. He also echoed President Marcos’ message at the Milken Institute’s 10th Asia Summit, stating that, “The Philippines’ goal is not merely to recover. Its goal is to build. We want to build better. We want to build more. And we hope that all of you will join us in this bold but attainable quest.”
DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista, in his remarks, emphasized how the project can potentially transform air travel in the Philippines and its surrounding regions. With a peak of 47.9 million travelers using NAIA in 2019, the opportunity for investors to tap into this growing market may prove to be a rewarding venture for those who would take part in this project.
InfraAsia set up a NAIA Pre-Bid Conference on 22 September 2023 as a follow-up activity for interested investors. END
