On 15 March 2204, Assistant Labor Attaché and Officer-in-Charge of the Migrant Workers Office (MWO)- Singapore, Atty. Eduard Ferrer, along with Welfare Officer Florencio Teves III, attended the Changi Extra Mile Award ceremony at the Changi Experience Studio, upon the invitation of Ms. Katrina Quitain, an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) serving as an airport supervisor at Changi Airport and acting as MWO’s contact person at the information area.

Ms. Quitain, along with her team and fellow OFW Maria Christina Garcia, received the Outstanding Team Award for their exceptional dedication in assisting stranded and distressed OFW passengers. Miss Quitain herself received two awards under the same category for her consistent efforts in aiding distressed OFW passengers on various occasions.

Miss Quitain acknowledged and expressed appreciation for the prompt actions of the Philippine Embassy, through the MWO and OWWA, even during late hours. These offices’ swift assistance, including facilitating travel arrangements and provision of food allowances, enabled them to extend necessary aid to distressed airport passengers.

Another Filipino awardee, Mr. John Eric Cepillo, was recognized with the Outstanding Staff Award and the One Changi Leaders’ Choice Award for demonstrating exemplary dedication in assisting distressed Changi airport passengers.

The Changi Extra Mile Award is a quarterly celebration by the Changi Airport management to recognize exceptional service by members of the airport community for the benefit of its passengers.

Philippine Ambassador Medardo G. Macaraig remarked,  “I am immensely proud to congratulate and commend the three Filipino workers recognized by the Singapore Changi Airport management for their unwavering dedication and client-oriented service. Their exemplary work ethic not only reflects positively on the Filipino community but also contributes to enhancing the reputation of the Philippines in Singapore.” (END).
