High Commissioner of India calls on Philippine Ambassador to Singapore

The new High Commissioner of India to Singapore, His Excellency Jawed Ashraf, paid a courtesy call on Ambassador Antonio A. Morales on Tuesday, 21 March 2017, at the Philippine chancery along Nassim Road. High Commissioner Ashraf presented his credentials to President Tony Tan Keng Yam on 23 November 2016. During the call, Ambassador Morales and the High Commissioner exchanged views on the activities of the diplomatic community in Singapore, bilateral relations of the Philippines and India with Singapore and developments in the region. He headed the Special Projects Division in the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi prior to his assumption as High Commissioner in Singapore. His other diplomatic postings include Frankfurt, Berlin, Kathmandu and Washington DC. He headed the Americas Division in MEA in Delhi (Sep 2010–Oct 2012) and was the Principal Staff Officer in Prime Minister’s Office (Oct 2012–Dec 2015) for Foreign Affairs, Defence, National Security Council, Space and Atomic Energy. He recently published a coffee book ‘A Day in the Life of Kathmandu’ dedicated to the victims of the Nepal earthquake of April 2015. He speaks English, Hindi and German and is married to Dr. Ghazala Shahabuddin.
