19 February 2023, Singapore – Third Secretary and Vice Consul Joy Anne B. Lai, who heads the Economic and Filipino Relations Section of the Philippine Embassy, delivered the keynote speech during the 1st Chamber of Customs Brokers, Inc. (CCBI) International Summit held in Singapore on 18-19 February 2023. In the same event, Chairperson of the Professional Regulatory Board for Customs Brokers Mr. Samuel C. Bautista led the induction of officers of the newly-established overseas chapter of the CCBI.
Vice Consul Lai stated in her address that efforts to stream in investments and trade must be coupled with implementing a modern, efficient, consistent, transparent, and perhaps even fully-digital customs and compliance processes. She also emphasized the importance of collaborative and an integrated approach among ASEAN to help not only with recovery efforts but also to ensure a sustainable economic growth. She ended her speech with an invitation to CCBI to participate in the activities laid out in celebration of the 125th anniversary of Philippine Independence this year. (END)
