PRESS RELEASE

PR-092-2023

(05 July 2023, Singapore) As the Philippine Independence month came to a close, Filipino pride and nostalgia took several notches higher as Philippine National Artist for Music and multi-awarded song composer and arranger Maestro Ryan Cayabyab, together with the equally talented Ryan Cayabyab Singers (RCS), transported the audience to the motherland through a one-night concert on 28 June 2023 at the Esplanade Concert Hall in Singapore.

With a career spanning over four decades, Mr Cayabyab, fondly called Mr. C. by many,  has composed timeless melodies that have become the pride of the Philippines and resonated with audiences across the globe. From enchanting ballads to vibrant choral harmonies, his versatile repertoire represents the richness and diversity of Filipino musical heritage.

The live concert marked a long-awaited return to Singapore of Mr. C and the RCS after over a decade. The evening’s repertoire included around sixty (60) original compositions, arrangements, television and commercial jingles and theater musicals, as well as tributes to fellow Original Pilipino Music (OPM) artists such as Basil Valdez, Rico J. Puno, Apo Hiking Society and the Smokey Mountain, and to Singapore-based vocal coach Ms. Babes Conde, concert producer and the New Minstrels’ longest-serving musical director, who arranged the song “Umagang Kay Ganda”.

The Philippine Embassy, led by Ambassador Medardo G. Macaraig, an OPM-lover himself, watched the concert in support of Filipino artists and their contributions to Filipino music. (END).
