PHILIPPINES ASSUMES LEADERSHIP OF COUNTER-TERRORISM INFORMATION FACILITY IN SINGAPORE

2 February 2024, SingaporeIn a Change of Leadership Ceremony held on 31 January 2024 at the Counter-Terrorism Information Facility (CTIF) at the Changi Naval Base, Singapore, Colonel Joel F. Castro, PA, assumed as Head of the CTIF for 2024, succeeding LTC Mohamad Heikal bin Mohamad Hairi of Malaysia.

Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Medardo G. Macaraig attended the ceremony as Guest of Honor, along with Malaysian High Commissioner to Singapore Dato’ Dr. Afzar Mohamad Mustafar. Head Joint Intelligence Colonel Lim Yu Chuan of the Singapore Armed Forces served as Witnessing Officer for the ceremony. Joining the Ambassador in the event were other officials from the Embassy,  the Office of the Defense and Armed Forces Attaché and the CTIF.

In September 2022, the Philippines and Singapore signed the CTIF Arrangement during the State Visit of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. to Singapore. Currently, there are four (4) Philippine representatives deployed to the CTIF – three (3) military officials including Colonel Castro, and a civilian research analyst. (END).
