PH and SG REAFFIRM CLOSE BILATERAL TIES DURING SECRETARY LOCSIN’S WORKING VISIT TO SINGAPORE

Philippine Secretary of Foreign Affairs Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. and Singapore Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Vivian Balakrsihnan held a bilateral meeting on 31 January 2022  at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) .

(7 February 2022, Singapore) Philippine Secretary of Foreign Affairs Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. and Singapore Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan reaffirmed the close and robust bilateral ties between the Philippines and Singapore during their bilateral meeting on 31 January 2022 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Secretary was in Singapore for a working visit upon the invitation of Foreign Minister Balakrishnan.

Secretary Locsin and Minister Balakrishnan had an engaging and candid exchange of views on international and regional developments, including discussions on ASEAN centrality and the situation in Myanmar, as well as the Philippines’ bilateral relations with Singapore. Both Ministers committed to enhance cooperation on defense, security, education and the resumption of travel between the two countries.

During his working visit, Secretary Locsin also inaugurated on 28 January 2022 the ePassport Renewal Center (PARC), an alternative, off-site passport renewal center, which is located  at 79 Anson Road 15-02 Singapore.

Secretary Locsin last visited Singapore in July 2019 for a bilateral meeting with Minister Balakrishnan as well as a courtesy call on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. At that time, he also graced the launch of the newly-restored Alkaff Bridge as part of the activities to commemorate the 50th anniversary of PH-SG diplomatic relations (END).
