(21 February 2023, Singapore) To start his round of introductory courtesy calls as Philippine Ambassador to Singapore, Ambassador Medardo G. Macaraig paid a courtesy call on the Dean of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps in Singapore, H.E. Kakhramon Shakirov, on 21 February 2023 at the Embassy of Uzbekistan. Ambassador Shakirov is also the Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Singapore since July 2018.
During the courtesy call, Ambassador Macaraig and Ambassador Shakirov discussed how the Philippines and Uzbekistan could further expand their cooperation in the areas of trade and investment, culture and people-to-people links. Both of them acknowledged how their host country, Singapore, has become an admirable model for good governance, economic stability, sustainable development and COVID-19 response and expressed satisfaction in serving as their respective countries’ top diplomats to the country.
Ambassador Macaraig also assured his Uzbek counterpart of the Philippine Embassy’s support for the projects and activities of Ambassador Shakirov, both as Ambassador of Uzbekistan and the Dean of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps in Singapore.
Both Ambassadors also exchanged tokens of appreciation at the conclusion of the courtesy call.
The Philippines and Uzbekistan enjoy friendly relations which span more than three decades. On 13 April 2023, both countries will celebrate the 31st anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations.
