(4 May 2023, Singapore) Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Medardo G. Macaraig joined the Philippine delegation to the 13th International Maritime Defense Exhibition and Conference (IMDEX) Asia, which opened yesterday, 3 May 2023 at the Changi Exhibition Center, and will run until 5 May 2023.
IMDEX Asia provides a platform for the defense and maritime sectors in the region to foster engagements and to showcase their latest innovations. After a four-year hiatus due to COVID-19, IMDEX Asia resumes this year in full scale with in-person participation, Opening Address by Singapore’s Minister for Defense Dr. Ng Eng Hen, an exhibit and warships display.
The IMDEX Asia opening ceremony was attended by 47 delegations, including 22 Navy Chiefs, Directors-General of Coast-Guards and Heads of Maritime Law Enforcement Agencies from 38 countries. Over 250 exhibitors from around the world are participating in this year’s exhibition, while 22 ships from 13 countries are taking part in this year’s IMDEX Asia Warships Display.
The Philippine delegation is composed of senior officials from the Philippine Navy, led by Vice Admiral Toribio D. Adaci Jr, Flag Officer In Command; the Philippine Coast Guard, led by Vice Admiral Rolando Lizor N. Punzalan Jr, Deputy Commandant for Operations; and the Philippine Embassy.
BRP Antonio Luna (FF151), one of the Philippines’ most advanced missile frigates, is a participating vessel in the IMDEX Warships Display. (END).
