08 December 2017 – Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Antonio A. Morales called on Singaporean Foreign Minister Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan on 07 December 2017 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the former winds up his tour of duty in Singapore.

Ambassador Morales was accompanied by Consul General Victorio Mario M. Dimagiba, Jr. and Consul Gonaranao B. Musor during the call.

The Ambassador expressed his appreciation for the support that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has given to him and the Embassy during his tour of duty in Singapore.

Ambassador Morales also acknowledged the visit of the Foreign Minister to Manila last June and expressed the hope that Secretary of Foreign Affairs Alan Peter S. Cayetano could reciprocate that introductory visit soon.

Foreign Minister Balakrishnan congratulated the Philippines on its successful stewardship of ASEAN this year as Singapore assumes the mantle of chairmanship next year.

As 40 Filipino soldiers are currently in Singapore to build their expertise on urban warfare, both sides agreed that the Philippines and Singapore can learn more from each other in maintaining peace and fighting terrorism.

“You can certainly look back on your time here in Singapore with satisfaction,” Foreign Minister Balakrishnan told Ambassador Morales as a parting message.
