On Thursday, 2 June 2016, Ambassador Antonio A. Morales warmly received three (3) delegations from the Philippines at the Philippine chancery along Nassim Road, Singapore.
The president of Mama Sita Foundation, Mrs. Clara R. Lapus and her granddaughter Ms. Isabelle Reyes, called on Ambassador Morales to turn-over Mama Sita commemorative stamps and “Discover the Flavors of the Philippines” cookbook that are intended for donation to the National Library of Singapore and the Singapore Philatelic Museum, respectively. Mrs. Lapus was in Singapore as Philippine SME delegate to the APEC Workshop on Import Licenses on 1 June 2016. The turn-over was witnessed by Consul Mersole J. Mellejor, Ms. Rowena Herrera-Sacristia, Ms. Rose Canonizado, President of the Filipino Overseas Workers in Singapore (FOWS) and Welfare Officer Rosanna Siray.
Before the turn-over, Mrs. Lapus hosted lunch at Violet Oon’s Kitchen located at the National Gallery Singapore. A choice of Filipino dishes, namely, Tinola, Chop Suey, Barbeque Chicken,Shrimp in Coconut Milk, Samalamig and fresh Philippine fruits (mango and pomelo) were served to guests that included Mr. Christopher Tan, Singapore writer, author, photographer and food consultant and Mr. Clement and Mrs. Luz Mesenas of Pinoy Star Magazine.
A delegation from the Presidential Communication Operations Office (PCOO) headed by Undersecretary for Operations Virgilio Nadal Jr. visited the Philippine Embassy. The delegation was in Singapore to attend Broadcast Asia 2016 at the Marina Bay Sands on 29 May – 3 June 2016. During the call, Ambassador Morales and the delegation exchanged views on possible changes in the PCOO with the assumption of office of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte.
Mr. Gardy Labad, International Tour Manager of the Loboc Children’s Choir (LCC), also dropped by to call on Ambassador Morales at the Philippine Chancery. Mr. Labad transited in Singapore after a performance of the LCC in Dhaka, Bangladesh, to meet with theatre officials. Mr. Labad also serves as Director of Kasing Sining Ensemble. During the call, Mr. Labad and Ambassador Morales discussed of a possible performance of the LCC in Singapore.
