PR-139-2023

(21 November  2023, Singapore) – The Philippine Embassy’s ART Trek 15 continues with its 7th art exhibition and 5th Embassy-hosted exhibit entitled, “Shades of the Wind“, featuring the works of nine (9) Filipino visual artists last 10 November 2023.

Shades of the Wind, presented by One East Asia, explores the intriguing realm of color as a means to contemplate self, identity, and culture. The exhibit features 16 pieces, each providing fresh perspectives from a diverse array of Filipino artists, including Emman Cardeño, Mark Rocha Padernal, Martin Maturan, A.R. Manalo, Ezekiel Fajardo, Reyna Raymunda, Demi Padua,  iSko Andrade, and Welbart Slowhands. Through the exploration of various hues and artistic methods, the artists contemplate the concept of self, examining the role of appearances—both physical and expressed through clothing—in shaping identity, whether at a personal level, in relation to others, or on a national scale. This provides a distinctive insight into the dynamic cultural changes, not only within the Philippines but also across the broader Pan-Asian community.

Works of Demi Padua,  iSko Andrade, Ezekiel Fajardo, Reyna Raymunda, and Welbart Slowhands were also featured at the Sentro Rizal London’s exhibition called, “Dancing with Glory ” in October.

Spearheaded by the Philippine Embassy, Art Trek has carved a distinct space within Singapore’s dynamic cultural landscape, celebrating both countries’ deep- rooted artistic and cultural relations and serving as “a centerpiece of the Embassy’s cultural diplomacy program”. Following One East Asia’s legacy and commitment to delivering captivating shows in Art Trek since first participating in 2013, “Shades of the Wind” provides the audience with a thought- provoking exploration of color.
