The Philippines actively advanced its commitment to regional defense and security during the 13th International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Shangri-La Dialogue Sherpa Meeting held on 19–21 January 2025 in Singapore.
Undersecretary for Strategic Assessment and Planning Ignacio Madriaga of the Department of National Defense led the delegation, delivering key remarks during the session on “Evolving Defense Partnerships and the Regional Security Architecture.” His address emphasized the significance of ASEAN centrality and adherence to international law as cornerstones for peace and stability in the region.

In a formal Change of Leadership Ceremony held this morning, CDR Ronnie G. Nagal PN, who took over the CTIF Head position from Colonel Joel F. Castro PA, in June 2024, officially handed over the leadership responsibilities to his Singaporean counterpart, LTC Derek Teo, current CTIF Chief of Staff, who will now spearhead the CTIF as its new Head, beginning today, 20 December 2024.

The Philippine Embassy proudly launched the printed version of its book entitled “Making a Mark on The Little Red Dot: Trailblazing Filipino Entrepreneurs in Singapore” on 4 December 2024 at the Ambassador’s Official Residence. The launch was attended by the book’s subjects, writers and other key Embassy personnel who were instrumental in publishing the book.

The book features the life-stories of twenty-five Filipinos who have not only excelled and succeeded as entrepreneurs in Singapore, but have literally blazed new trails in the field of entrepreneurship, including in the business, trade, industry, green and sustainability, social, culinary, health and lifestyle, cultural and education, as well as digital and online fields.

Delegations from the ASEAN Member States gathered in Singapore on 20-22 November 2024 to attend the Meeting of the 18th High-Level Task Force on ASEAN Community Post-2025 Vision (HLTF-ACV).

During the Meeting, the Philippines highlighted the need for implementable institutional strengthening and cross-pillar coordination among the four pillars of the new ASEAN Community Vision (ACV) 2045. The Philippine Embassy in Singapore commenced the sixteenth edition of Art Trek on 08 November 2024 through a unique fusion of its two principal initiatives—Art Trek and Food Trek—in collaboration with partners One East Gallery and Chez Suzette, a Filipino-owned French restaurant. The exhibition featured Didier Alarcon’s solo show entitled “In Your Eyes,” offering a deep personal glimpse into Alarcon’s poignant, introspective style as a tribute to his daughter.
