(01 February 2023, Singapore) The Philippine Embassy in Singapore is pleased to announce that His Excellency Medardo Antonio G. Macaraig, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Philippines to the Republic of Singapore, has arrived in Singapore this afternoon.  

Diplomats of the Philippine Embassy, several Heads of ASEAN Missions in Singapore and representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed Ambassador-designate Macaraig and his two (2) daughters at the Changi Airport.

Ambassador Macaraig, a career diplomat with almost three decades of experience in the foreign service,  remarked upon meeting with the officers and staff of the Philippine Embassy and its attached agencies: “I am very pleased to have arrived here in Singapore as Philippine Ambassador to Singapore, a fellow ASEAN founding member and our valued partner in many key areas. Our relations have grown from strength to strength in more than half a century since the establishment of our diplomatic relations. As Ambassador, I will make it my mission to contribute to the continued flourishing of our partnership as well as the promotion of the interests of the 200,000 strong Filipino community who regard Singapore as their second home. I look forward to working with all of you towards the realization of our common goals.” 

Ambassador Macaraig is the 13th Philippine Ambassador to Singapore. Prior to his appointment, he was the Assistant Secretary of the Office of Asset Management and Support Services at the Department of Foreign Affairs. His foreign postings include assignments in Ottawa, Canada; Saipan, CNMI; and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. (END)
