ZIKA Advisory

ZIKA VIRUS ADVISORY TO FILIPINOS TRAVELLING INTO SINGAPORE

The Philippine Embassy in Singapore would like to inform all Filipinos who have plans to travel or are travelling to Singapore of the increasing number of locally-transmitted Zika virus infection in several areas around Singapore.

In view of this development, some countries have issued travel advisories to Singapore.  In the same vein, the Embassy would like to encourage those intending to travel to Singapore to restrict their trips to ESSENTIAL and NECESSARY trips ONLY.

Additionally, the Embassy would like to advise those whose trips cannot be postponed during this crisis to consider taking the following safety precautions:

  1. Register with the Embassy as soon as you arrive in Singapore, providing details on the duration of your stay and how you can be contacted in Singapore, as well as on the contact details of your next-of-kin in the Philippines. – Registration can be done online via email at php@philembassysg.org.
  2. Leave behind a copy of your itinerary with your family or friends at home in the Philippines. Contact them on a regular basis to provide updates on your present condition.
  3. Protect yourself by ensuring that you are covered by a travel insurance policy for the duration of your stay in Singapore, taking into account the fact that subsidized medical treatment in Singapore does not extend to foreigners and that the cost of medical treatment here may be considered prohibitive.
  4. To regularly check the Singapore government’s webpage on Zika (moh.gov.sg/zika) for latest health advisories and on the symptoms of Zika.
  5. Ensure that you have the Embassy’s trunkline number (+65 67373977) and hotline number (+65 90722797) in case of emergency. If you have been tested positive for Zika, inform the Embassy immediately so it can render appropriate assistance to you.

Please note that the Embassy can be reached through telephone number +65 67373977 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or through its hotline number +65 90722797 after office hours.
