24 June 2021 — The Filipino community in Singapore held on  20 June 2021, Sunday,  a joint virtual celebration of the 26th Filipino Migrant Workers’ Day and the 123rd Anniversary of the Declaration of Philippine Independence.

The event was streamed live via the social media accounts of the Philippine Embassy, the Philippine OverseasLabour Office (POLO) and Rated J, an online Filipino news and public affairs program based in Singapore. POLO and Rated J teamed up to ensure that the celebration reached the widest audience  possible.

Some entertainment personalities from Manila joined the Filipino community organizations and individuals in Singapore in paying tribute to the sacrifices of the founding fathers of Philippine independence and the heroism of today’s Filipino migrant workers.

Aside from showcasing their talents through songs and dances, participants had fun with the question and answer portion of the program which gave them the opportunity to win prizes for their knowledge of Philippine history and revolution.

A special dance number by the Philippine Embassy personnel highlighted the two-hour event, which has since been viewed 1.5k times through this link: https://www.facebook.com/pololaborofficesingapore/videos/4238516482875603.

Conceived in 2013  as a fund-raising activity for typhoon victims, the Pagdiriwang has evolved to become an annual platform for social gatherings and family events of the Filipino community in Singapore, as part of  the National Day celebration.

The Philippines has designated every 7th day of June as the Filipino Migrant Workers’ Day by virtue of Republic Act No. 8042.
