YOUNG FILIPINO MUSICIANS BAG AWARDS AT 2024 MUSIC SINGAPORE INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

SINGAPORE 20 August 2024 – The Philippine Embassy in Singapore extends its heartfelt congratulations to the young Filipino musicians recognized at the Awarding and Gala Concert of the 2024 Music Singapore International Competition, held from 13 to 16 August 2024. The awards ceremony took place on 18 August 2024 at the Singapore Conference Hall.

 

Students from Camp Jam Performing Arts School, headed by artistic director Dr. Jhames F. Labrador, bested their competitors in String Ensemble, String Duo, and Violin. Students from the Music Production Program of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, led by Chairperson Patrick Frias, won first and second prizes in the Voice Category Competition. The first-prize winners had the honor to perform during the Awarding Ceremony and Gala Concert.

 

Prior to the competition, the participants were welcomed at the Embassy by Ambassador Macaraig and Charge d’Affaires Renee Gayle M. Chua, together with Cultural Officer, Ms. Rosellie Bantay. 

 

Since its inception in 2020, the Music Singapore International Competition has provided a global stage for young musicians worldwide to showcase their talent. Initially focused on violin and piano, the competition evolved to include virtual and in-person rounds this year, along with new categories such as voice, pop, jazz, ensemble, and choir. (END)
