PH EMBASSY LAUNCHES BOOK FEATURING STORIES OF TRAILBLAZING FILIPINO ENTREPRENEURS IN SINGAPORE

The Philippine Embassy proudly launched the printed version of its book entitled “Making a Mark on The Little Red Dot: Trailblazing Filipino Entrepreneurs in Singapore” on 4 December 2024 at the Ambassador’s Official Residence. The launch was attended by the book’s subjects, writers and other key Embassy personnel who were instrumental in publishing the book.

The book features the life-stories of twenty-five Filipinos who have not only excelled and succeeded as entrepreneurs in Singapore, but have literally blazed new trails in the field of entrepreneurship, including in the business, trade, industry, green and sustainability, social, culinary, health and lifestyle, cultural and education, as well as digital and online fields.

PHILIPPINE COAST GUARD DELEGATION STRENGTHENS TIES IN SINGAPORE THROUGH STRATEGIC ENGAGEMENTS

Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Medardo G. Macaraig, together with Colonel Egberto O. Dacoscos, PA (GSC), Defense and Armed Forces Attache, warmly welcomed a delegation from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), in a courtesy call on 24 October 2024 at the Philippine Embassy in Singapore. The delegation, led by Commodore Joel M. Simo-ag, PN, visited Singapore from 20 to 25 October 2024 as part of the Coast Guard Officer Senior Executive Course (CGOSEC) Class 03-2024 Foreign Academic Travel. This visit underlined the commitment of both the Philippines and Singapore to fostering stronger maritime ties and advancing shared goals in maritime safety and regional stability.

REMINDER AGAINST THIRD-COUNTRY RECRUITMENT SCHEMES

The Philippine Embassy continues to receive disturbing allegations of illegal recruitment emanating from Singapore for work in other countries.

In this regard, the Philippine Embassy reiterates its reminder to our kababayans in Singapore to exercise extreme caution when encountering advertisements, whether through online platforms (Facebook, WhatsApp) or by word of mouth, which promise higher-paying jobs in another country.

Under this scheme, recruiters target Overseas Filipino Workers already deployed in their destination countries, including Singapore, with employment opportunities in Canada, Poland, Germany, Malta, Mongolia, and other countries.

PH SECRETARIES INVITE SG BUSINESSES TO JOIN COUNTRY’S ECONOMIC TAKE OFF TOWARDS GREENER AND SUSTAINABLE FUTURE AT 4TH PHILIPPINES-SINGAPORE BUSINESS AND INVESTMENT SUMMIT

Organized by the Philippine Embassy in Singapore, the 4th Philippines-Singapore Business and Investment Summit (PSBIS) concludes this afternoon with a clarion call for both Philippine and Singapore businesses to maximize the potential of the Philippines as a strategic trade partner and emerging investment destination.

Now on its 4th iteration, the 2024 Summit was held at the Shangri-La Hotel Singapore with more than 200 participants from the Philippines’s and Singapore’s government, business community and private sector in attendance.

PH EMBASSY AND GARDENS BY THE BAY UNVEIL GARDENS BY THE BAHAY KUBO: A FIESTA OF ORCHIDS

The Philippine Embassy in Singapore, in collaboration with the Gardens by the Bay, unveiled today the Gardens by the Bahay Kubo: A Fiesta of Orchids, the newest orchid display at the Cloud Forest.

The event was graced by Singapore Minister for Manpower, Dr. Tan See Leng, as the Guest of Honor, and Philippine Secretary for Migrant Workers, Hans Leo J. Cacdac. Also in attendance were Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Medardo G. Macaraig, and Mr. Felix Loh, CEO of Gardens by the Bay.

The exhibit, part of the celebrations marking the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Singapore, is the first collaboration between the Philippine Embassy and the Gardens by the Bay.

PHILIPPINES-SINGAPORE RELATIONS ACHIEVE GREATER HEIGHTS DURING SINGAPORE PRESIDENT’S STATE VISIT

The Philippines and Singapore have further reinforced their strong bilateral ties with the signing of two new Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) focused on the deployment of Filipino healthcare workers and the development of carbon credits at the sidelines of the State Visit of Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam to the Philippines from 15 to 17 August 2024. These agreements build on the momentum established with the signing of an MOU on defense cooperation between the Department of National Defense (DND) and Singapore’s Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) in July 2024.

In their bilateral meeting held on 15 August 2024, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and President Tharman Shanmugaratnam expressed satisfaction with the progress of Philippine-Singapore bilateral relations. President Marcos said relations have undergone “immense transformation” since they were established over five decades ago, and are today strong and multi-faceted.

232 FILIPINO WORKERS IN SINGAPORE RECEIVE TESDA CERTIFICATION

the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), the Philippines’ Technical Vocational Education and Training Authority successfully conducted the 2024 Overseas Assessment Program (OAP) from 27 to 28 July 2024 at the Bayanihan Center, CARE Academy, and AiMS Learning International Singapore. Of the 282 candidates assessed, 232 were certified and granted National Competency (NC) certificates, which they received immediately after the assessment.

AFP CHIEF OF STAFF GENERAL BRAWNER REAFFIRMS STRONG PH-SG DEFENSE TIES, CALLS ON SENIOR MINISTER OF STATE FOR DEFENCE

Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff General Romeo S. Brawner Jr. called on Senior Minister of State (SMS) for Defence Mr. Heng Chee How at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) on 18 April 2024. The two officials reaffirmed the warm and friendly bilateral defense relations between the Philippines and Singapore, and exchanged views on important global and regional developments.

Chargé d’ Affaires, a.i. Emmanuel R. Fernandez of the Philippine Embassy in Singapore received Philippine Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) officials, led by its Chief Operating Officer (COO) Ms. Maria Margarita M. Nograles, at the Philippine Embassy during the latter’s courtesy call on 17 April 2024.

An attached agency of the Department of Tourism, the TPB markets and promotes the Philippines as a world-class tourism and MICE destination, in strategic partnership with private and public stakeholders to deliver a unique high-value experience for visitors, significantly contributing to increased arrivals, receipts and investments in the Philippines.

The Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), General Romeo S. Brawner Jr., is in Singapore for an official visit from 17 to 18 April 2024, upon the invitation of Vice Admiral Aaron Beng, Chief of the Defence Force of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF). General Brawner is accompanied by Brigadier General (BGEN) Joel M. Paloma PA, BGEN Patriarch Robinson P. Pel PA, Colonel Walter P. Icaro PA (MNSA) and Captain Jerome I. Peñas PA.
