PH EMBASSY LAUNCHES BOOK FEATURING STORIES OF TRAILBLAZING FILIPINO ENTREPRENEURS IN SINGAPORE

The Philippine Embassy proudly launched the printed version of its book entitled “Making a Mark on The Little Red Dot: Trailblazing Filipino Entrepreneurs in Singapore” on 4 December 2024 at the Ambassador’s Official Residence. The launch was attended by the book’s subjects, writers and other key Embassy personnel who were instrumental in publishing the book.

The book features the life-stories of twenty-five Filipinos who have not only excelled and succeeded as entrepreneurs in Singapore, but have literally blazed new trails in the field of entrepreneurship, including in the business, trade, industry, green and sustainability, social, culinary, health and lifestyle, cultural and education, as well as digital and online fields.

EMBASSY CONCLUDES OVERSEAS VOTER REGISTRATION FOR 2025 ELECTIONS

The Philippine Embassy in Singapore successfully concluded on 30 September 2024 its 22-month long Overseas Voter (OV) registration for the 2025 national elections. A total of 7,199 Filipinos in the city-state applied for registration, certification, transfer and reactivation of their voter’s record during the period. The nearly two-year registration exercise, which began on 12 December 2022, aimed to provide qualified overseas Filipinos the opportunity to exercise their right to vote in the national elections.

REMINDER AGAINST THIRD-COUNTRY RECRUITMENT SCHEMES

The Philippine Embassy continues to receive disturbing allegations of illegal recruitment emanating from Singapore for work in other countries.

In this regard, the Philippine Embassy reiterates its reminder to our kababayans in Singapore to exercise extreme caution when encountering advertisements, whether through online platforms (Facebook, WhatsApp) or by word of mouth, which promise higher-paying jobs in another country.

Under this scheme, recruiters target Overseas Filipino Workers already deployed in their destination countries, including Singapore, with employment opportunities in Canada, Poland, Germany, Malta, Mongolia, and other countries.

The Philippine Embassy in Singapore successfully launched yesterday (12 August 2024) the digital version of its book entitled “Making a Mark on The Little Red Dot: Trailblazing Filipino Entrepreneurs in Singapore.”

The eBook features the life-stories of twenty-five Filipinos who have not only excelled and succeeded as entrepreneurs in Singapore, but have literally blazed new trails in the field of entrepreneurship.

The eBook is one of the projects undertaken by the Philippine Embassy in Singapore to celebrate the 55th anniversary of Philippine-Singaporean diplomatic relations. It is not for sale, and it can be accessed by anyone for free by scanning on the QR code.

FILIPINOS IN SINGAPORE PARTICIPATE IN 2024 SPECIAL PROFESSIONAL LICENSURE EXAMINATIONS

The Philippine Embassy in Singapore, through its Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and in coordination with the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), successfully conducted the 2024 Special Professional Licensure Examination (SPLE) on 16-18 June 2024, at the NTU@one-North Campus (ONEC) located at 11 Slim Barracks Rise,
Singapore. The three-day examinations, which covered fourteen (14) professions including nursing, architecture, engineering, teaching, and veterinary medicine, among others, received positive feedback from the Filipino community. This activity is important in enhancing the employability and competitiveness of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) through licensure examinations.
Of the four hundred forty-four (444) registered examinees, three hundred seventy-eight (378) or 85.14% took and completed the examinations.
