PRESS RELEASE | PR-214-2026

Singapore, 30 June 2026 – The Philippine Embassy in Singapore joins the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) in celebrating the 15th Anniversary of Sentro Rizal, marking fifteen (15) productive years of advancing Philippine language, arts, culture, and heritage across the globe.

Established by the NCCA pursuant to the National Cultural Heritage Act of 2009, Sentro Rizal serves as the Philippines’ flagship cultural institution overseas. Since its establishment in 2011, the network has grown to 38 centers worldwide, providing Filipinos overseas and international audiences with greater access to Philippine literature, history, the arts, language, films, and other cultural resources.

Singapore holds a special place in the history of Sentro Rizal. It was among the earliest overseas locations to embrace the initiative, reflecting the longstanding cultural ties between the Philippines and Singapore and the shared commitment to fostering mutual understanding through cultural diplomacy. Over the years, Sentro Rizal Singapore has served as a platform for promoting Filipino creativity and heritage while strengthening connections with the Filipino community, academic institutions, cultural organizations, and Singaporean audiences.

Opened on 15 September 2017 and re-inaugurated on 9 January 2026 within the Philippine Embassy’s newly-redeveloped Chancery on Nassim Road, Sentro Rizal Singapore stands as the first purpose-built Sentro Rizal in the global network. The modern and fully functional facility features an expanded collection of Philippine books and cultural resources, as well as dedicated spaces for lectures, exhibitions, workshops, film screenings, book launches, and other cultural and educational activities.

The Embassy continues to integrate Sentro Rizal into its flagship public diplomacy initiatives, including Art Trek, Food Trek, cultural exhibitions, artist engagements, literary programs, and educational outreach activities. Working closely with Singaporean institutions, Filipino organizations, artists, educators, and cultural practitioners, Sentro Rizal Singapore continues to strengthen people-to-people ties and promote a deeper appreciation of Philippine culture in Singapore.

As Sentro Rizal marks its 15th anniversary, the Philippine Embassy in Singapore remains committed to promoting Philippine culture and strengthening people-to-people ties with Singapore.
