SINGAPORE, 11 September 2025 – Senator Loren Legarda gave a public lecture titled, “Environmental Governance in the Philippines: Redefining Development and Sustainability in the Age of Climate Change”, jointly organized by the Philippine Studies Programme and the Climate Change in Southeast Asia Programme of the ISEAS–Yusof Ishak Institute.
A long-standing advocate for climate action and sustainable development, Senator Legarda shared insights on her pioneering legislative work, including the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act and the Climate Change Act, as well as upcoming bills on the Blue Economy, Low Carbon Development, and Circular Economy.
After the lecture, Ambassador Medardo Macaraig presented a copy of the Embassy book “Making A Mark on the Little Red Dot: Trailblazing Filipino Entrepreneurs in Singapore” to Senator Legarda.
Senator Legarda also turned over a copy of the Philippine Studies publication “From the Philippines to the World” to Mr. Choi Shing Kwok, Director and CEO of the ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute.
The book, published on 25 June 2025, contains milestones and global reach of the Philippine Studies Program, a cultural diplomacy initiative that has established academic partnerships in universities worldwide since its inception in 2017. This includes the Philippine Studies Program at the ISEAS-Yushof Ishak Institute.
