(30 May 2025, Singapore) The Philippines is once again participating in the IISS Shangri-La Dialogue 2025, Asia’s premier security and defense summit. Secretary for National Defense Gilberto C. Teodoro Jr. will lead the Philippine delegation to the Summit’s 22nd iteration in Singapore, taking place from today, 30 May to 1 June 2025.

Joining Secretary Teodoro are General Romeo S. Brawner Jr., Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and other officials from the Philippine Department of National Defense. Philippine Ambassador Medardo G. Macaraig and other Embassy officials will also attend as delegates.

Secretary Teodoro will speak at the Sixth Plenary Session on Cross-Regional Security Interlinkages on Sunday, 1 June 2025.

The President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron will deliver the keynote address of this year’s iteration of the Shangri-La Dialogue on 30 May 2025. Malaysia Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim will deliver a Special Address. United States Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth will also deliver a major address on 31 May 2025.

The annual Dialogue, named after the Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore, brings together defense ministers, military leaders, senior defense officials, as well as business leaders and security experts, from across the Asia-Pacific, Europe, North America and beyond, to discuss critical security challenges. The IISS expects more than 550 delegates from the defense and security establishments of more than 40 nations around the world.

Last year’s Keynote Address was delivered by Philippine President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. Other previous keynote speakers include Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio and Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
